Abstract
An attempt was made to investigate factors affecting duration of job maintenance of people with disabilities in Gyeonggi Province of Korea by using data on the survey on employment status of people with disabilities in Gyeonggi Province which was conducted in 2003. The duration of job maintenance was analyzed with socio-economic factors, disability-related factors, job training-related factors, wage and job satisfaction related factors. Among these factors, variables of sex, age, marital status, household income, ADL(Activities of Daily Living), experience of job training, wage, and satisfaction in the dimension of job stability and job specifications have statistically significant effect on the duration of job maintenance of people with disabilities. The duration of job maintenance is likely to increase for male workers, for older workers, for married workers, for workers from higher household income, for those who have no limitation in ADL, for workers with high wage, and for workers with satisfied in the dimension of job stability and job specification, whereas the duration of job maintenance is likely to decrease for those who experience the job training. The results of this analysis implies that the vocational rehabilitation services, in particular, the job-evaluation and the follow-up services for those already employed, should be strengthened.
